The Splinting

Insights on the dental splint.

The orthodontic splinting is to prevent the natural movement of the teeth following the removal of an splinting instrument. This instrument might be a metal wire or glass fiber which is positioned behind some teeth (solitramente between the two canines). This temporary anchorage, can last for a period of one to two years, will prevent the teeth from attempting a reorganization. In some situations, such as in patients who have undergone treatment paradontics, splinting is recommended permanently. Getting used to the splint is easy and fast, you need only to have a special care during clean and daily hygiene.
